We’re thrilled to announce that Afrocats has officially become an accredited employer with the Living Wage Foundation.

This accreditation is more than a badge, it’s a commitment, and by paying the real Living Wage, we're ensuring that every team member earns enough to cover the basic cost of living and can enjoy dignity, stability, and fairness in their work.

What Living Wage Foundation accreditation means

The Living Wage Foundation accredits organisations that voluntarily commit to paying at least the real Living Wage, which is calculated based on the real costs required for everyday life, including things like food, housing, and travel.

Accredited employers receive the Living Wage Employer Mark, get listed on the Living Wage Foundation’s website and map, and are often recognised in the media and by prospective employees and partners who care about fair pay.

This is a reflection of our values: that every person on our team deserves to earn a fair wage, not just the minimum required by law, but one that accounts for life’s real expenses.

It’s about fairness, responsibility, and investing in our people.

Why it matters

For Afrocats, this accreditation is about ensuring we practise what we believe, which is that businesses should contribute positively to the lives of their staff and the broader community.

It helps us:

  • Strengthen staff morale, retention and well-being

  • Attract talented individuals who share our values

  • Show transparency and leadership in social responsibility

  • Build trust with customers, supporters, and the communities we serve

We’re proud to take this step, and here’s how you can join us or support this work:

If you're an employer: consider getting accredited yourself. Even small businesses can make a difference. The Living Wage Foundation offers support, resources, and recognition for those who commit.

If you work for or with Afrocats: share this news, and let’s spread the word that real, fair pay is possible and necessary.

If you're a customer or supporter: you can support organisations like ours that pay the Living Wage, and your choices help shift what’s possible in the world of work across the UK.
