The Afrocats and kittens came together one last time before the summer break for a joyful and creative Children in Need Saturday session – and while it was our final Youth of the World gathering for the term, the energy and excitement were still sky-high following our unforgettable performance at HOME’s Horizons Festival.
Kicking things off, project assistant Olivia reminded us of the Afrocats Code of Conduct – a set of shared values that keep our space kind, safe and supportive.
Everyone contributed by creating and decorating their own personal agreements, capturing key principles like:
Be friendly
Be kind
Stay hydrated (especially in this heat!)
Take care of each other
Make new friends 💛
Session lead Beatrice then guided the group through some reflections on the HOME performance, and our young people had a lot to share:
‘In future, we’d love to do TikTok dances!’
‘I felt nervous at first, but then I was confident on stage.’
‘We could wear matching t-shirts and have the same hairstyles – like a real dance crew!’
‘We’d love to do another performance.’
With spirits still high, we kept moving with some fast-paced games and dance routines – check out the moves everyone came up with below.
And as a surprise finale, our wonderful leaders Edel and Beatrice were presented with handwritten thank-you cards and beautiful sunflower bouquets as small tokens of gratitude for their endless support and encouragement, along with a small but well-deserved treat for our young participants for their top-tier efforts this year so far.

We couldn’t be prouder of our Youth of the World stars and the amazing team that helped bring this creative journey to life, and from first steps to standing ovations, you’ve all been incredible.
That’s a wrap for summer – but the fun doesn’t stop here🌞
